I built this smoother a while back. It has 3/16 brass sides and a 1 in beech sole. The bed angle is 25 degrees, and has a 1/8 blade with a 30 degree bevel. The front knob is wenge with a rosewood handle. The back handle is also rosewood.
I have just finished my second smoother using the same methods, but using a frog off an old stanley. This plane is bedded at 50 degrees. Last edited by wally : 03-04-2005 at 09:58 PM. |

Very nice!! You know, it never occurred to me until just now seeing the sole of your plane - does the infill type plane tend to leave a mark on the surface of the wood being planed where the brass sides of the plane rub?
