Used for everything from cutting plywood and straight ripping to cutting dados in boards--the tablesaw can do it all. Unfortunately my first tablesaw was a Rand benchtop model off ebay; what a waste of time and money that was. My second was a craftsmen contractor model from Sears; again a waste of $400. I should have saved my money and waited, then bought a good one right from the start. If you plan on using your tablesaw a lot, don't waste time and money on a cheap model. Buy the one that you will still be using in 10 years. Plan ahead! If you plan on only dabbling with small crafts and knickknacks then you should be fine with a smaller and cheaper model, but serious woodworking and furniture building will be much more fun (and easier) if you have a nice big 3-5hp 10"-12" cabinet model tablesaw.
